Project Engineering

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Montreal, QC. The chosen incumbent will play a crucial role in all R&D projects in which he/she is assigned to. With his/her system knowledge, integration abilities, and his/her vast experience with our products and processes, the candidate will be involved in the entire project development lifecycle and will act as the project technical lead. He/She will also support project management related activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the project manager develop the project plan.
• Assist in the preparation of schedules, milestones, and other project deliverables.
• Act as the “go-to” person for the project team for technical and logistical support.
• Develop specifications for the project’s needed equipment.
• In charge of the system setups required to support the development and integration activities.
• Provide system and integration support to the developers.
• Integrate and validate the solutions being developed.
• Design and document test cases to ensure proper verification of the solution.
• When necessary, delegate and oversee validation efforts.
• Communicate and document critical issues and status updates in a timely manner.
• Interact with system, software, and hardware development teams, product owners, and other stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the product.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure design requirements can be met and are testable.
• Participate in periodic development meetings to ensure project progress.
• Manage and track projects using project management tools.
• Adhere to the established project development process.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years or equivalent experience in a similar role.
• Lab R&D with equipment Integration capabilities.
• Experience in functional and performance testing.
• First-hand knowledge of all aspects of the hardware & software development process.
• Familiar with working in an agile environment and with software project management tools (Jira).
• Ability to coordinate and communicate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills – persuasive, encouraging, motivating, and team-oriented.
• Possesses critical thinking, conforming to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities in a high-pressure environment is crucial
• Strong technical skills (asset) with an ability to quickly assimilate new ideas and concepts;
• Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of satellite communications is an asset.
• Experience with various IP networking aspects and technologies (network/transport protocols, Quality of Service, configuring equipment, etc).
• Experience with network management systems.
• PMP certification or equivalent experience is an asset.
• Proficient with MS Project and MS Office.
